My 29th birthday is today, and I am renewing my commitment to myself. I am notorious for saying this and not changing anything, but here I am, trying to record every bite I eat. I am also going to stop eye balling and guessing at measurements, but actually start using utensils and scales to keep records accurate. I want to greet my thirties below 250 lbs.

50 pounds in a year is totally doable! You need to figure out what hasn't been working and change it. Using a food scale is a great start. Also, some say that FS suggests a calorie allowance that is too high. It offered me two options for calorie goal, and the lower option has been working great for me. Are you walking every day? Also, I find that when I focus on a long-term goal, I fail. If I have a whole year to lose 50 lbs, I can just start later if I mess up today. I have success when I look back to my past efforts and try not to let past- me down. I focus on the behaviors I need to do today. One day at a time. Let's do this!

THAT is the secret - use a food scale, measuring cups and measuring spoons. I tend to weight using grams and there is almost always a way to log grams on your food items. This creates accuracy. You have to know what you are eating in order to make changes to help with loss.
